The Ground Coffee Caffè Intenso, Light Roast, 1kg (4 Packs of 250g) – Rainforest Alliance Certified sounds like a good option for those who enjoy a light roast coffee with these attributes:
Pros:
- Light Roast: Offers a brighter and more acidic flavor profile compared to medium or dark roasts. Ideal for those who prefer a nuanced and less intense coffee experience.
- Strong Aroma and Hints of Dark Chocolate and Oriental Spices: Despite being a light roast, the description suggests a flavorful cup with interesting taste dimensions.
- Rainforest Alliance Certified: Ensures the coffee beans are sourced from sustainable farms.
- Bulk Pack (1kg): Economical option, especially if you drink a lot of coffee.
- Ground Coffee: Convenient for quick brewing methods that use pre-ground coffee, like drip machines or Moka Pots.
Cons:
- Pre-Ground: Loses freshness faster than whole beans. The grind size may not be ideal for all brewing methods (though it likely works for drip machines and Moka Pots).
- Limited Flavor Description: While some details are provided, reviews might be helpful for a more nuanced understanding of the taste, especially regarding the acidity level.
- Light Roast: Acidity can be a negative factor for some people who prefer a smoother taste.
Overall, the Ground Coffee Caffè Intenso could be a good option for you if:
- Enjoy light roast coffee: You prefer a brighter and more acidic coffee experience.
- Like the taste profile: The description suggests hints of dark chocolate and oriental spices, which might be appealing.
- Care about sustainability: The Rainforest Alliance Certification ensures ethical sourcing.
- Use a drip machine or Moka Pot: The grind may be suitable for these brewing methods.
- Drink a lot of coffee: The bulk pack offers a good amount of coffee at a lower price per unit.
However, if you:
- Prefer a smoother coffee: Lighter roasts tend to be more acidic, so a medium roast might be a better choice.
- Prefer the freshest possible coffee: Consider buying Caffè Intenso whole beans and grinding them yourself for maximum freshness.
- Use a brewing method requiring a specific grind size: The grind size is not specified.
- Want a very specific flavor profile: More information about the tasting notes or reviews would be helpful, especially regarding the acidity level.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Grind Size: If you don’t use a drip machine or Moka Pot, you might want to consider whole bean Caffè Intenso to grind for your specific needs.
- Storage: If you buy the bulk pack, transfer opened bags to airtight containers to maintain freshness for as long as possible.
- Alternatives: Explore other light roast coffees with similar flavor descriptions from different brands or whole bean options to compare flavor profiles, acidity levels, prices, and grind size. You can also look for light roast coffees that are known for being less acidic.

price, well it will be hard to find a nicer coffee than this, for a better price.. but its a matter of taste.
Fairly strong but not bitter. i will buy again for sure.

Usually I drink the best single origin blends from Lidl, Aldi or Lavazza
which are difficult to beat.
I think that this Amazon is probably aimed at Lavazza i.e., an espresso / strong Italian type brew
It’s pretty strong – not for caffeine wimps- with a decent rounded flavour.
However it does lack the smoothness and sophistication of Lavazza Crema.
For the money it’s pretty good and not to be sniffed at, but don’t expect it to match the best
blends out there. I think Amazon could tweak the recipe further so it has a more unique flavour.
Prob a decent 7 out of 10 stars .

Rich & Aromatic: Upon opening the bag, the smells of dark chocolate, sweet caramel, and toasted nuts quickly emerge, promising a smooth, delicious brew.
Crema: Even your French press will be impressed. This coffee delivers a rich, velvety crema that adds both luxury and taste to every cup. It also works well for regular drip coffee makers.
Full-Bodied Flavor: Don’t let the “light roast” fool you. This coffee is bold and balanced, with dark chocolate leading the way, supported by hints of caramel and a subtle roastiness, as suggested by the smell.
Ethical Bonus: Feel good while you sip! Rainforest Alliance Certified means your coffee supports sustainable practices.
Bottom Line:
Amazon’s Espresso Crema Ground Coffee is a hidden gem for value-conscious coffee lovers. The rich aroma, velvety crema, bold flavor, and ethical sourcing make it a winner. This is, of course, not the best coffee in the world, but it certainly meets expectations and left me pleasantly surprised.
Bonus Tip: Experiment with different brewing methods to find your perfect cup. This coffee shines in both machines and presses, and might surprise you in a pour-over too.
Happy Caffeination!

‘Happy Belly Caffe Intenso’ is the first ground coffee to be purchased from the brand. Rated with a strength rating of 4, and apparently equal to that intended to be purchased but not then in stock. When delivered, the use-by date was approximately 18 months later and it will be used well before expiry approaches. Unlike some which are loosely vacuum-packed, with a CO2 release valve in the bag, thse are ‘bricked’, tightly packed and solid until opened; there is no CO2 release. Pricing was also remarkably low (4 x 250g packs).
As a relative newcomer to using a filter machine at home (one was used in workplaces but the choice of coffee was then never personal), experience thus far in selecting whatever is available and hopefully to taste is that strength, flavour, bitterness and other such characteristics can and will vary with the brand; one may be rated 3 by one and 4 or 5 by another yet they are very similar blends, roasts etc.
The grind is stated on the pack as ‘medium’ and to be ideal for use in cafeterieres, filter and Moka machines; it is a filter machine for which it is required. By comparison with other medium-ground coffees, this is by some way the finest grind of all. The fragrance of the coffee when first opened was not as expected and had a strange, almost fishy, character. Were it sold in a specialist coffee roast and grind shop, that characteristic alone would likely cause it to be ignored. As it is tightly-packed in foil and well-sealed, there can be no external causative influence.
Flavour, once brewed, and based upon the usual two tablespoons-plus per 250 ml cup as generally recommended, was flavourful, pleasant and its strength slightly greater than a true 4 but with none of the strange character of the dry product! It is likely that the quantity used will be reduced to two level tablespoons per cup for the cups usually used, and one per cup for the smaller 125 ml shot cups.
Addendum – for a minor medical issue, it has been suggested to see whether a decaffeinated product would help resolve it and Happy belly Decaffeinated since purchased – the flavour is good and without the usual ‘acidic’ character.
