The Folgers Classic Decaf Ground Coffee 865g sounds like a budget-friendly option for those who enjoy a classic cup of decaf coffee, with some things to consider:
Pros:
- Decaf: Ideal for those who want to reduce caffeine intake but still enjoy the coffee taste.
- Large Bulk Pack (865g): Very economical option, especially if you drink decaf coffee regularly.
- Makes up to 240 Cups: A good value for the price, especially for frequent coffee drinkers.
- Classic Roast: Generally refers to a medium roast, offering a balanced flavor profile that’s not too strong or acidic.
- Pre-Ground Coffee: Convenient for quick brewing methods that use pre-ground coffee, like drip machines or Moka Pots.
- Folgers Brand: Popular brand known for its classic decaf roast.
Cons:
- Pre-Ground: Loses freshness faster than whole beans. The grind size may not be ideal for all brewing methods (though it likely works for drip machines and Moka Pots).
- Limited Flavor Description: “Classic Roast” is a general description. Reviews might be helpful for a more nuanced understanding of the taste.
- Unknown Grind Size: The description doesn’t specify the grind size.
Overall, the Folgers Classic Decaf Ground Coffee could be a good option for you if:
- Enjoy decaf coffee: You prefer to limit caffeine intake.
- Prefer a medium roast: You like a balanced coffee flavor that’s not too intense.
- Use a drip machine or Moka Pot: The grind is likely suitable for these brewing methods.
- Drink coffee regularly: The bulk pack offers a significant amount of coffee at a lower price per unit.
- Want a convenient pre-ground option: Pre-ground coffee is quick and easy to use.
- Prefer a familiar brand: Folgers is a popular coffee brand.
However, if you:
- Prefer the freshest possible coffee: Consider buying Folgers Classic Decaf whole beans (if available) and grinding them yourself for maximum freshness.
- Want a very specific flavor profile: More information about the tasting notes or reviews would be helpful.
- Use a brewing method requiring a specific grind size: The grind size is not specified.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Grind Size: If you don’t use a drip machine or Moka Pot, you might want to consider whole bean Folgers Classic Decaf (if available) to grind for your specific needs.
- Storage: If you buy it, transfer opened bags to airtight containers to maintain freshness for as long as possible.
- Alternatives: Explore other decaf coffees with medium roast profiles from different brands or whole bean options to compare flavor profiles, prices, and grind size. You can also look for pre-ground coffees specifically designed for your brewing method (e.g., French Press) if that’s what you use.

I shan’t name names, but I have tried every coffee in the supermarkets and not been happy then read good reviews about this. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound … !!
I use a small cafetiere and put three heaped desert spoonfuls of this coffee in it and ta-dah … you would really not know you were drinking de-caf … !!!
Honestly, I’m the first to start moaning about de-caf tasting weak but this is beautiful.
Lovely strong-tasting coffee and, drunk side by side with a caffeinated cuppa, you would struggle to tell them apart … plus, no headaches so if you are trying to be kinder to yourself or weaning yourself off caffeinated but don’t want to compromise on that taste of your cuppa, go for this.
I can’t recommend it enough. Just been back to buy my second tub … I still have a third of my old tub left but don’t want to be without this … give it a go, you will be surprised and I find it a good price for the size of tub.
