The FreshGround Premium Ground Filter Coffee Taster Kit sounds like a great option for someone who wants to try a variety of coffees or who is new to exploring different coffee origins and roasts. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide:
Pros:
- Variety Pack: Includes three 255g bags of ground coffee from different origins: Blue Mountain, Colombia Altura, and Brasilia Forte. This allows you to taste the distinct characteristics of each region.
- Pre-Ground: Convenient for quick brewing methods that use pre-ground coffee, like drip machines or Moka Pots.
- FreshGround Brand: While not the most established brand, some positive aspects are mentioned below.
- 255g Bags: Each bag offers a good amount of coffee to enjoy each flavor for a while.
- Rainforest Alliance Certified: Ensures the coffee beans are sourced in a sustainable manner.
- Perfect for Any Occasion: The variety allows you to choose a coffee depending on your preference (stronger or milder) or time of day.
Cons:
- Pre-Ground: Pre-ground coffee loses freshness faster than whole beans. The grind size might not be ideal for all brewing methods (though it likely works for drip machines).
- Limited Information: There’s no information about the roast level for each coffee.
- Unknown Brand Reputation: FreshGround isn’t a household name, so reviews might be limited to assess quality and taste.
Overall, the FreshGround Premium Ground Filter Coffee Taster Kit could be a good option for you if:
- Want to try different coffees: This is a great way to explore distinct flavor profiles from various origins.
- Are new to specialty coffee: The variety pack allows you to discover what kind of coffee you prefer.
- Use a drip machine or Moka Pot: The pre-ground coffee is suitable for these brewing methods.
- Care about sustainability: The Rainforest Alliance certification ensures ethical sourcing.
However, if you:
- Prefer the freshest possible coffee: Consider buying whole beans and grinding them yourself.
- Are a coffee aficionado and want specific details: More information about roast levels and tasting notes would be helpful.
- Only trust established brands: With limited information about FreshGround, you might want to research reviews or choose a more well-known brand.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Reviews: Look for customer reviews on the FreshGround website or other retail platforms to get a sense of the flavor profiles, grind size, and overall quality.
- Freshness Date: Check the “roasted on” or “best before” date to ensure the coffee is fresh.
- Alternatives: Explore other coffee taster kits or single-origin coffees from different brands to compare variety, price, and available information.

Blue Mountain, this is possibly one of my favourites, it has a really strong flavour but it isn’t until you finish your first cup that you suddenly realise how smooth this one is. Great for when I’m at my desk working. However we find it too strong for a weekend morning coffee.
Brazilian blend, This is slightly less punchy but just as smooth, far better for that morning drink compared to the Blue Mountain pack. Again very easy to drink and goes great in the filter machine or the homemade tea bag.
Colombian blend, we’ve not tried this one yet but I will update my review when we do.
Recommended and we will purchase again. Great for filter or teabags.
