The Lavazza Qualità Rossa, Ground Coffee Espresso 500g (Pack of 2) sounds like a good choice for those who enjoy a rich and flavorful coffee with a smooth, chocolatey finish. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide:
Pros:
-
- Rich and Flavorful Taste (according to product description): This blend is known for its full body and intense aroma, with hints of chocolate and dried fruit.
- Smooth and Chocolatey Finish: This suggests a pleasant and well-rounded flavor profile that many coffee drinkers enjoy.
- Medium Roast: This roast level strikes a balance between acidity and bitterness, making it suitable for a wide range of palates.
- Espresso Grind: Ideal for brewing espresso in a Moka pot or espresso machine.
- 500g Packs (Pack of 2): Offers a good amount of coffee for frequent espresso drinkers.
- Lavazza: A well-respected brand known for high-quality coffee.
Cons:
- Limited Flavor Description: “Rich and Flavorful” is a general description. Reviews might be helpful for a more complete picture of the taste (acidity, bitterness).
- Espresso Grind: Not suitable for all brewing methods.
- Potentially More Expensive Per Cup Than Regular Coffee: While the upfront cost might be lower, it can be expensive per cup compared to brewing fresh ground coffee, especially if you use a lot of grounds per serving.
Overall, the Lavazza Qualità Rossa Ground Coffee could be a good option for you if:
- Enjoy espresso or strong coffee: You prefer a full-bodied and intense coffee flavor.
- Like a smooth and chocolatey finish: You appreciate a well-rounded and balanced taste.
- Have an espresso machine or Moka pot: You have the right equipment to brew espresso-style coffee.
- Drink coffee regularly: The 500g packs (pack of 2) offer a good value for frequent espresso drinkers.
However, if you:
- Prefer a lighter or more delicate coffee: You might prefer a lighter roast or a different coffee origin.
- Are on a tight budget: Espresso coffee can sometimes be more expensive than regular coffee.
- Don’t have an espresso machine or Moka pot: You’ll need a different brewing method for this espresso grind coffee.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Research Online Reviews: See what other users mention about the taste profile (acidity, bitterness, chocolate notes) and how it compares to other espresso coffees.
- Fresh Grinding Alternative: If you have a grinder, consider buying whole beans and grinding them just before brewing for the freshest possible flavor. However, this requires more preparation time than using pre-ground coffee.
- Storage: Store the ground coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness.
I hope this helps you decide whether Lavazza Qualità Rossa Ground Coffee is a good choice for you!

I’ve always had 100% arabica coffee, but thought I’d try this for once (it is 70% arabica, 30% robusta). Robusta has slightly more caffeine than arabica, so it can give you a bit more of a boost after drinking your cup of coffee.
The taste surprised me, I actually love it! There’s no bitterness, and it tastes nutty / chocolatey perfect for any moment! Just be sure that you are using the correct amount (1 measured spoonful per cup, or 1 tablespoon per cup) and you’ll get a nice smooth taste.
I purchased directly from Amazon, and can confirm that you get 2 bags of 500g (total of 1kg), so you get plenty of coffee!
The only reason I have given this 4 stars is because of the fineness of the grind. Lavazza preground always seem to be ground very finely to a point where my filter coffee machine just has to drip slowly rather than consistently with a fairly fast flow. But surprisingly this tastes fantastic! A fine ground allows you to have a coffee with more flavour to it. I really wouldn’t recommend this for a cafetiere though, it’s just too fine. If you are using a filter coffee machine, I highly recommend that you use filter papers as this helps to reduce / prevent the number of grounds going through to your cup.
So overall, this coffee tastes absolutely fantastic! It’s just a shame that it’s a bit too finely ground but this does also have its benefits. For espresso machines and filter coffee makers the grind is good, but for a cafetiere it’s just a bit too fine in my opinion. Lavazza are a very well respected coffee brand, and they certainly do not disappoint!

They clearly put their efforts into getting it from the crop to the shelf ASAP.
This coffee in the Moka pot is perfect, especially with some Demerara sugar, cream, frothed milk & a sprinkle of Green & Blacks cocoa is stunning. Oh, and…….. don’t tell anyone as the coffee snobs will hammer me, but a couple of spoonfuls of Coffee Mate 😂

I have also used it in stovetop expresso makers with excellent results – would say it gives it a different flavour to the machine process, probably more authentic and less smooth (like you get in southern Italy).
fyi – it is not really suitable for cafetieres – tried this once when we had no machine (only recommend this method if you are desperate for a coffee!)
I bought this twin pack as it works out cheaper than in the supermarket and does not take up too much room in the cupboard. Once opened, I tip half the packet into our coffee tin and store the rest sealed in the refrigerator for optimum freshness. If you don’t drink this kind of coffee often I would opt for their 250g size.

This two pack 500g is far cheaper than buying either 4 250g or buying the 250g in a multi
Will it still be selling in this choice in the next year I do hope so

So with that out of the way, I also have to say the coffee is excellent. I use it in an espresso machine daily and it’s excellent quality and good value. I would easily recommend to anyone.
