The Teapigs Peppermint Leaves Tea (50 tea bags, pack of 2) sounds like a refreshing and convenient option for those who enjoy peppermint tea. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide:
Pros:
- Pure Peppermint: Made with pure peppermint leaves, offering a natural and strong minty taste.
- Naturally Caffeine-Free: Perfect for enjoying any time of day, even before bed, without a caffeine buzz.
- 50 Tea Bags (Pack of 2): Provides a good supply for frequent tea drinkers and offers a potentially lower price per cup compared to smaller packs.
- Individually Wrapped Tea Bags: Convenient for single-serve steeping and easy to take on the go.
- Teapigs Brand: Reputable brand known for its quality teas.
- Biodegradable Mesh Bags: The tea bags are made from plant starch, which is a more eco-friendly option compared to traditional plastic tea bags (check the packaging to confirm).
Cons:
- Limited Flavor Description: “Strong minty taste” is a general description. Reading online reviews can help with specifics about the taste (menthol intensity, sweetness).
- Tea Bags vs Loose Leaf Tea: Tea bags may not offer the same complexity and nuances of flavor as loose leaf tea.
- Possible Environmental Impact: Even with biodegradable tea bags, there’s still some environmental impact from the packaging.
Overall, the Teapigs Peppermint Leaves Tea could be a good option for you if:
- Enjoy a strong peppermint tea: You prefer a refreshing and minty taste.
- Drink tea regularly: The bulk pack offers a good value and potentially lower price per cup.
- Convenience is a priority: Tea bags are quick and easy to prepare.
- Are looking for a caffeine-free option: This tea is naturally caffeine-free.
However, if you:
- Prioritize the absolute richest flavor possible: Loose leaf peppermint tea might offer a more nuanced taste experience.
- Want a more detailed flavor profile: Reading online reviews might help you understand the taste (menthol intensity, sweetness) better.
- Are very particular about bitterness: Some peppermint teas can have a slightly bitter aftertaste. Reviews might shed light on this specific tea’s bitterness level.
- Want to minimize environmental impact: Loose leaf tea with reusable infusers is a more eco-friendly option in the long run.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Research Online Reviews: See what other users mention about the taste profile (menthol intensity, sweetness) and how these tea bags compare to loose leaf peppermint tea.
- Water Temperature: Use hot water (but not boiling) around 90-95°C (195-205°F) for optimal flavor extraction.
- Steeping Time: Steep for 3-5 minutes according to your preference for strength.
I hope this helps you decide whether Teapigs Peppermint Leaves Tea is a good choice for you!

BUT the teabags are made of Nylon and do not biodegrade. We have religiously put ours on the compost heap, as we do all our other teabags, but after the several years we have been buing TeaPig teabags, they do not show the slightest sign of breaking down.
PITY!
