The Tea Masters Loose Leaf Tea – Breakfast Tea – Premium (1kg) sounds like a great option for those who enjoy a full-bodied black tea, particularly for breakfast, and appreciate the benefits of loose leaf tea. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide:
Pros:
- Rich Black Tea Flavor: This breakfast tea promises a full-bodied and robust flavor, ideal for a morning pick-me-up.
- Loose Leaf: Loose leaf tea generally offers a more complex and nuanced flavor compared to tea bags due to the larger tea leaves having more space to release their flavors.
- Large Quantity (1kg): Provides a long-lasting supply for frequent tea drinkers and offers a potentially lower price per cup compared to tea bags.
- Premium Quality: The description suggests this might be a higher quality breakfast tea blend.
Cons:
- Limited Information: There aren’t details about specific flavor notes beyond “full-bodied” and “robust.”
- Requires Separate Infuser: You’ll need a teapot with a strainer or a separate tea infuser for loose leaf tea.
- Storage: Loose leaf tea requires an airtight container in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness.
- Steeping Time and Technique: Brewing loose leaf tea requires a bit more attention to steeping time and water temperature compared to tea bags.
Overall, The Tea Masters Loose Leaf Tea – Breakfast Tea – Premium (1kg) could be a good option for you if:
- Enjoy strong black teas for breakfast: This breakfast tea promises a full-bodied flavor.
- Prefer loose leaf tea: You prioritize a more complex tea experience and potentially higher quality tea.
- Drink tea regularly: The 1kg quantity offers a good value.
However, if you:
- Dislike strong black teas: Look for reviews mentioning specific flavor notes to see if this tea is too strong for your taste.
- Convenience is a major priority: Loose leaf tea requires a bit more preparation than tea bags.
- Don’t have a teapot or infuser: You’ll need additional equipment for loose leaf tea.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Research Online Reviews: See what other users mention about the taste, strength, and whether it lives up to the “premium” description.
- Start Small: If unsure, consider buying a smaller quantity first to try it before committing to 1kg.
- Storage Containers: Invest in airtight containers to store your loose leaf tea properly.
- Steeping Guide: Look for steeping recommendations for breakfast black tea, as the ideal time and temperature can affect the taste.
I hope this helps you decide whether The Tea Masters Loose Leaf Tea – Breakfast Tea – Premium (1kg) is a good choice for you!

i’ve noticed some half and quarter leaves, also known as CTCs, in the mix. some other loose teas i’ve bought use only the whole rolled leaves. i find this makes a brew made with these leaves ever so slightly harsher, but it’s rather subtle. in fact, many people prefer that, and it’s common for black teas to deliberately use CTCs. whole-rolled black teas tend to taste ever so slightly more delicate, with the flavour notes rounded off.
i love the packaging, it’s value for money and no-nonsense. they provide excellent information on the label, including the date packed and use by date, as well as instructions and blend descriptions! it seals well and stays airtight and doesn’t let light in.
loose tea tastes waaayy better than teabags, i was skeptical for a long time but it really is a dramatic difference. this brings out all the fruity and malty notes of the tea whilst retaining the bold tea and tannin base flavour. i get 2 or 3 infusions out of these leaves, with the second being slightly less bold but still very strong, and the third is very delicate and i only go for that sometimes.
if you like co-op 99 tea bags, this is a very close flavour match, if you can’t access co-op 99 loose tea (although i don’t know how large their leaves are). i think this range of tea is good value for money, especially if you buy the 1kg bag instead of the 250g bag. no more paper or plastic waste, and it tastes much better! i highly recommend this tea if you like to drink “regular tea”, aka breakfast tea, all throughout the day. it’s a very easy drinking tea with a good flavour match for other popular teas.

What I like is I can get them a big bag and be done with it for a few months instead of keep buying endless little ones, which is annoying. Value for money.

Taste is of course subjective. To me. this tea tasted better than the Huffkins; stronger and quite different, which to my taste buds was more enjoyable. I have a single person tea pot (Chatsford) and 1.5 teaspoons of this tea provides a perfect large mug of tea. This is a great large leaf tea – no dust issues – and exceedingly good value. I highly recommend this tea for those who prefer a stronger taste and colour over what might be expected from a breakfast tea.

I love my tea and this tastes great. I will be ordering again!
Edit – onto my third bag now. Second bag seemed to have more dust in it than the first one, but the new one seems to be as good as the first. Overall it’s a very good product that tastes good and helps me to me more eco-friendly.
