The Twinings Earl Grey Tea 400 Bags (Multipack of 4 x 100 Tea Bags) sounds like a great option for a household that enjoys classic Earl Grey tea. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide:
Pros:
- Bulk Quantity (400 Tea Bags): Provides a very long-lasting supply for frequent Earl Grey tea drinkers. This could be a cost-effective option in the long run.
- Classic Earl Grey Flavor: Twinings is a well-known brand known for its Earl Grey blend. This offers a familiar taste of black tea flavored with bergamot and lemon.
- Convenient Tea Bags: Easy and quick to prepare, ideal for busy mornings or on-the-go situations.
Cons:
- Limited Flavor Description: The description mentions bergamot and lemon but might not convey the full taste profile (e.g., strength, citrusy vs floral notes).
- Tea Bags vs Loose Leaf Tea: Tea bags may not offer the same richness and nuance compared to loose leaf tea, especially for black teas like Earl Grey.
- Large Packaging Waste: With 400 tea bags, there’s a significant amount of individual packaging waste to consider.
Overall, the Twinings Earl Grey Tea 400 Bags (Multipack of 4 x 100 Tea Bags) could be a good option for you if:
- You’re a big fan of Twinings Earl Grey tea: The bulk quantity ensures a long supply of your favorite tea.
- Convenience is a major priority: Tea bags are quick and easy to use.
- You don’t mind a basic black tea with bergamot flavor: You’re familiar with and enjoy the classic Earl Grey taste.
However, if you:
- Want a more nuanced Earl Grey experience: Loose leaf tea might offer a more complex flavor profile.
- Prioritize minimizing environmental impact: The large amount of packaging waste might be a concern.
- Are open to trying different Earl Grey variations: Pre-portioned tea bags limit your ability to adjust the tea strength or add other flavorings.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Research online reviews: See what other users mention about the taste and quality of Twinings Earl Grey tea bags.
- Storage: Store the tea bags in a cool, dark, and dry place to maintain freshness.
- Steeping Time and Strength: Experiment with steeping time and water temperature to find the perfect strength for your preference.
- Adding Milk and Sugar: Classic Earl Grey is often enjoyed black, but you can adjust to your taste.
I hope this helps you decide whether the Twinings Earl Grey Tea 400 Bags is a good choice for you!

Flavour is still the same as before, not like the Lapsang which I’ve had to change to another company.

“Swindle!” I yelled, “I’ve been diddled!”
On closer inspection, there are now 120 bags in the big boxes, and 40 in the small box, making 400 in total.
Phew!
But there was another level of strangeness to come: one of the boxes had “popped” undone, and I noticed that instead of four fat foil-wrapped packs filling the box, there were four small foil packs, rattling around with plenty of spare space.
You can see in the second and third photos, what a difference in size this is: the bigger pack is the “old” size, the smaller, flatter pack is the new one, which ought – logically – to contain more t-bags than the old, yet it’s only half the height.
I am hoping that this does not mean they’ve gone over to using tea dust instead of leaves….
